Cornell Law Schoo,
Ithaca,
New York.

Gentlemen:

I am informed that Harry Hazelwood, Jr. is applying for admission to your Law School. I have known this candidate intimately during his four years in college and hold him in high regard. Even though he is colored I gave him an appointment as one of the preceptors, which is a highly selected group from our student body. He had to deal with white students, who responded to his leadership without fail.

I am glad to give excellent rating to Mr. Hazelwood's character and industry. He has good mental ability and fine appearance.

Very truly yours,

Fraser Metzger
Dean of Men
