Peter Cuff, a black man, ran away from his master Benjamin Field in April 1824. In June, the slaveholder posted a reward of $20 for Peter Cuff's return. As of November 24, 1824, the Fredonian newspaper in New Brunswick continued to run the runaway ad, suggesting that Peter Cuff was not captured in the 7 months since his escape.

$20 REWARD.
RANAWAY from the subscriber on Monday [blank or undecipherable] day of April, a negro man named
PETER CUFF.
Said negro is about 5 feet 6 inches high, had on when he went away, a blue surtout coat, mixed vest and panaloons. All persons are forbid harboring him under the penalty of law.
